About Newport Jr Global Summit
Mission & Purpose
The Newport Jr Global Summit’s mission is to challenge students to think critically about the world around them and begin developing innovative solutions to real-world problems—through exposure to the ideas, disciplines, and perspectives shaping today’s global landscape. Founded by Jack Matheson, a 12 year old who is passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship.
Annual Summit
Established in 2026, the annual Newport Jr Global Summit NJGS) is a one-day, invitation-only program for students ages 11–16, held in advance of the Newport Global Summit.
Participants will explore topics across business, entrepreneurship, finance, science, government, the arts, health, education, the environment, and current events, all through the lens of innovation, initiative, and opportunity within a free market system.
The program will feature a curated group of speakers, including founders, executives, and subject matter experts from industries shaping the modern world—such as artificial intelligence, robotics, energy, defense, finance, and consumer technology.
Unlike traditional youth programs or academic conferences, the Newport Jr. Global Summit is intentionally small, interactive, and discussion-driven, emphasizing how innovation actually happens—how ideas are developed, tested, and brought into the real world.
Through direct engagement with accomplished leaders, students will gain early exposure to how complex problems are approached, how opportunities are identified, and how capital, risk, and innovation intersect.
Setting & Spirit
The Summit convenes in historic Newport, Rhode Island—a place defined by its colonial heritage and Gilded Age legacy, set along the shores of the Atlantic. In this setting, rich with history and entrepreneurial spirit, we reflect on the past while exploring new pathways for innovation, growth, and enduring economic prosperity.
The Newport Jr. Global Summit is designed to inspire bold thinking and meaningful engagement among a highly curated group of young participants.
