The 2023 Newport Global Summit was held August 22-23, 2023, in Newport, Rhode Island. The opening dinner was held at Sherwood, and summit sessions were held at the US Naval War College. Steve Forbes, Chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media, was the keynote speaker.

2021 Summit: The 2021 Summit was held at Newport Art Museum. Ala Isham, Founder of Ala Von Auersperg Collection, and Hadi Al Alawi, Chairman of Al Hayat Group were keynote speakers at the opening dinner. Featured speakers at The Summit included, Sean O’Brien Brehm, Founder & CEO of Croudpoint Ventures; Mark Kendell, Founder, and CEO of Kendell Associates; Nikolas K. Gvosdev, Professor of National Security Affairs at the U.S. Naval War College; Maya Horgan Famodu, Founder and Partner, Ingressive Capital and Andrew Reilly, Managing Director, VCFA.

2019 Summit: Afternoon sessions and opening dinner were held at Oceancliff, followed by the opening reception and dinner for the 2019 Newport Global Summit. Mohamed Younes, Chairman of Concord International Investments, L.P., was the evening keynote speaker. Mr. Younes received an award for his contributions and meaningful support of the Newport Global Summit since its inception in 2009. Featured speakers for the event also included Larry Wieseneck, Co-President of Cowen & Co., Todd Ruppert, Founder & CEO of Ruppert International, John Ailanjian, CIO of Next Play Capital and Mark Hinds, CEO & Co-Founder of Resonant Technologies Group, among other notable investors and business leaders.

2018 Summit: Ryan Nece, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Next Play Capital, was our keynote speaker at the opening dinner at New York Yacht Club at Harbourcourt. Featured speakers at The Summit also included Jon Epstein, President of Fila North America; Philip Howard, Author & Advocate of Legal and Regulatory Reform; Greg Martin, Founder & Managing Partner, Archer Venture Capital; and John Messervey, Founder & President, National Family Business Council.

Our 2017 Summit was held at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. On June 16, 2016, 7Sisters hosted the Gold Coast Summit at The Studio Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, now the home of her great-grandchildren, John LeBoutillier and Susan Humes. Gertrude was a renowned sculptor, arts patron, and founder of the Whitney Museum in New York City.

ABANA 2009 Summer Leadership Retreat August 9, 2009

In the wake of the global financial crisis, on August 9, 2009, ABANA hosted a summer leadership retreat, led by ABANA’s President Wael Chehab and members of the ABANA board of Directors. The purpose was to reengage US and Arab business leaders to engage in dialog on the topic of The Way Forward.
